Yunus narrated to us, Hammad—meaning Ibn Zayd—narrated to us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Aisha, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived in Medina while it was pestilential. It was mentioned that the fever had struck them down. Abu Bakr fell ill, and when the fever seized him, he would say: Every man is greeted by the morning among his family, While death is nearer than the strap of his sandal. She said: And Bilal, when the fever seized him, would say: Oh, would that I knew if I shall spend a night, In a valley, with Idhkhir and Jalil grass around me. And shall I ever reach the waters of Mijannah one day? And shall Shamah and Tafil appear before me? O Allah, curse Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, Shaybah ibn Rabi'ah, and Umayyah ibn Khalaf, just as they drove us out of Mecca. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw what they were suffering, he said: "O Allah, make Medina beloved to us as our love for Mecca, or even more. O Allah, make it healthy, bless for us its Sa' and its Mudd, and transfer its fever to Al-Juhfah." He said: So a child would be born in Al-Juhfah, and he would not reach puberty before the fever struck him down.
