Musnad Ahmad 1153:2325

Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Aziz—meaning Ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Salamah—narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, who said: Aisha used to say: We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and we did not mention anything but Hajj. When we arrived at Sarif, I began to menstruate. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered upon me while I was weeping. He said: "What makes you weep?" I said: I wish I had not gone out this year. He said: "Perhaps you have menstruated?"—meaning: you have had your period. She said: I said: Yes. He said: "Indeed, this is something Allah has written for the daughters of Adam, so do what the pilgrim does, except that you do not circumambulate the House until you are pure." When we arrived in Makkah, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to his companions: "Make it an Umrah." So the people entered the state of ihram for Umrah, except for those who had the sacrificial animal with them. The sacrificial animals were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Abu Bakr, Umar, and those who were wealthy. She said: Then they set out in the state of ihram for Hajj. When the Day of Sacrifice came, I became pure. The Messenger of Allah sent me, and I performed ifadah—meaning: I circumambulated. She said: Then we were brought beef. I said: What is this? They said: This is what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, slaughtered for his wives from the cows. She said: When it was the night of al-Hasbah, I said: O Messenger of Allah, the people are returning with a Hajj and an Umrah, while I am returning with a Hajj. So he commanded Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, and he let me ride behind him on his camel. She said: I remember, and I was a young girl, that I would doze off, and the back of the saddle would strike my face, until he brought me to al-Tan'im. So I entered the state of ihram for an Umrah in place of the Umrah of the people who had performed Umrah.
