Hadith 1153:2344

Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, he said: Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim ibn Muhammad narrated to me, from his father, from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, she said: When the news of the killing of Ja'far came, we recognized sadness in the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. She said: Then a man entered upon him and said: O Messenger of Allah, the women have overcome us and distracted us. He said: "Return to them and silence them." She said: So he went, then he returned and said the same thing to him. He said—meaning the narrator: And perhaps affectation harms its people—he said: "Go and silence them; if they refuse, then throw dust into their mouths." She said: I said to myself: May Allah distance you, for by Allah, you have not left your soul alone, and you are not one to obey the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. She said: I knew that he would not be able to throw dust into their mouths.
