Surayj ibn al-Nu‘man narrated to us, he said: ‘Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, from Aflit ibn Khalifah—my father said: Sufyan says: Fulayt—from Jasrah bint Dajajah, from ‘Aishah, she said: Safiyyah sent food to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that she had prepared for him, while he was with me. When I saw the slave girl, a trembling seized me until I was overcome by shivering, so I struck the bowl and threw it away. She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked at me, and I recognized the anger on his face. I said: "I seek refuge in the Messenger of Allah from him cursing me today." She said: He said: "Woe to you." She said: I said: "And what is its expiation, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Food like her food, and a vessel like her vessel."
