Musnad Ahmad 1153:2389

It reached me in my father’s book: Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Rashid narrated to us, from Habib ibn Abi Habib, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, from Aisha, that it reached her that Ibn Umar narrates from his father, Umar ibn al-Khattab, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The deceased is punished by the weeping of his family over him." She said: "May Allah have mercy on Umar and Ibn Umar. By Allah, they are neither liars, nor deniers, nor do they add to [the words of the Prophet]. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) only said that regarding a man from the Jews. He passed by his family while they were weeping over him, and he said: 'They are weeping over him, and Allah the Almighty is punishing him in his grave.'"
