Hadith 1153:291
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from his father, from Aisha, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was bewitched by a Jew from the Jews of Banu Zurayq, who was called Labid ibn al-A'sam, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would imagine that he had done a thing when he had not done it. She said: Until one day or one night, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) supplicated, then he supplicated, then he said: "O Aisha, do you feel that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has answered me regarding that which I asked Him about? Two men came to me; one of them sat at my head and the other at my feet. The one at my head said to the one at my feet—or the one at my feet said to the one at my head—: 'What is the man's ailment?' He said: 'He is bewitched.' He said: 'Who bewitched him?' He said: 'Labid ibn al-A'sam.' He said: 'In what?' He said: 'In a comb, the hair gathered upon it, and the spathe of a male date palm.' He said: 'And where is it?' He said: 'In the well of Dharwan.'" She said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to it with some of his companions, then he came back and said: "O Aisha, its water is as if it were the infusion of henna, and its palm trees are as if they were the heads of devils." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, why did you not burn it?" He said: "No, as for me, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has cured me, and I disliked to stir up evil among the people because of it." She said: So he ordered it to be buried.
