Musnad Ahmad 1153:330

Waki’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa’id, from ‘Amrah, from ‘Aishah, who said: The people were workers for themselves, so they would come [to the mosque] in their state [of work]. It was said to them, "If only you would perform ghusl."
