Musnad Ahmad 1153:444

Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn al-Mu'ammal narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from Aisha, she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Aisha, the first of the people to perish will be your people." I said: "May Allah make me a ransom for you, the tribe of Taym?" He said: "No, but this clan of Quraysh. Death will find them desirable, and people will covet what they have, and they will be the first of the people to perish." I said: "Then what will be the survival of the people after them?" He said: "They are the backbone of the people; if they perish, the people will perish."
