Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, from 'Aishah, who said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived in Medina, Abu Bakr and Bilal became ill with fever. When the fever would seize Abu Bakr, he would say: Every man is greeted with morning among his family, While death is closer than the strap of his sandal. And when the fever would subside from Bilal, he would chant, saying: Oh, would that I knew if I shall spend a night, In a valley, with Idhkhir and Jalil grass around me. And shall I ever reach the waters of Mijannah one day? And shall Shamah and Tafil appear before me? O Allah, curse 'Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, Shaybah ibn Rabi'ah, and Umayyah ibn Khalaf, just as they drove us out of Mecca."
