Musnad Ahmad 1153:558

Bishr ibn Shu‘ayb narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from al-Zuhri, he said: ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr informed me that ‘Aishah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: The sun eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, went out to the mosque, stood, and said the takbir, and the people formed rows behind him. He said the takbir and recited a long recitation. Then he said the takbir and bowed a long bowing. Then he said: "Allah hears those who praise Him," and he stood up and did not prostrate. He recited a long recitation that was shorter than the first recitation. Then he said the takbir and bowed a long bowing that was shorter than the first bowing. Then he said: "Allah hears those who praise Him, our Lord, to You is the praise." Then he prostrated. Then he did the same in the other rak‘ah, until he completed four bowings and four prostrations. The sun cleared before he departed. Then he stood and praised Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, as He is worthy of, then said: "They are but two signs from the signs of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; they do not eclipse for the death of anyone, nor for his life. So when you see them, hasten to prayer." Kathir ibn ‘Abbas used to narrate that ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas used to narrate regarding the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the day the sun eclipsed, the same as what ‘Urwah narrated from ‘Aishah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. I said to ‘Urwah: "But your brother, on the day the sun eclipsed in Medina, did not exceed two rak‘ahs like the morning prayer." He said: "Yes, he missed the Sunnah."
