Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, he said: Shu’ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri, he said: Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham informed me, that ‘Aishah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: The wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent Fatimah, the daughter of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. She sought permission to enter, while the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was with ‘Aishah under her wrap. He gave her permission, so she entered upon him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, your wives have sent me to you to ask you for fairness regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "O my daughter, do you not love what I love?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Then love this one," referring to ‘Aishah. She said: Fatimah stood up and left. She went to the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and told them what she had said and what he had said to her. They said to her: "You have not availed us of anything. Go back to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." Fatimah, peace be upon her, said: "By Allah, I will never speak to him about her again." The wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, then sent Zaynab bint Jahsh. She sought permission, and he gave her permission. She entered and said: "O Messenger of Allah, your wives have sent me to you to ask you for fairness regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah." ‘Aishah said: Then Zaynab attacked me. ‘Aishah said: I began to look at the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to see when he would permit me to respond to her. I did not cease until I knew that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not dislike that I defend myself. She said: So I attacked Zaynab, and I did not take long before I silenced her. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, smiled and then said: "She is the daughter of Abu Bakr."
