Musnad Ahmad 1153:596

Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, he said: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from al-Harith ibn Yazid, from Ziyad ibn Nu'aym, from Muslim ibn Mikhraq, from 'Aishah, she said: It was mentioned to her that some people recite the Qur'an once or twice in a night. She said: "Those have recited, and they have not recited. I used to stand with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for the entire night. He would recite Surah al-Baqarah, Al 'Imran, and an-Nisa'. He would not pass by a verse containing fear except that he would supplicate to Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and seek refuge, and he would not pass by a verse containing glad tidings except that he would supplicate to Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and beseech Him."
