'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, he said: Thabit informed us, from Sumayyah, from 'Aishah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was upset with Safiyyah bint Huyayy regarding something. Safiyyah said: "O 'Aishah, make the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pleased with me, and you shall have my day." She said: "Yes." So she took a head covering of hers dyed with saffron and sprinkled it with water so that its scent would diffuse, then she sat beside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Move away from me, O 'Aishah, for it is not your day." She said: "That is the bounty of Allah, He gives it to whom He wills," and she informed him of the matter, so he became pleased with her.
