Musnad Ahmad 1153:664

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from Abu Bakr ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman, from his father, that he said: I entered upon ‘A’ishah, and she said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wake up in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), then he would perform ghusl, then he would go early to the mosque while his head was dripping, and then he would fast that day." I informed Marwan ibn al-Hakam of her statement, and he said to me: "Inform Abu Hurayrah of ‘A’ishah’s statement." I said: "He is a friend of mine, and I would like for you to excuse me." He said: "I adjure you to go to him." So I went, and he with me, to Abu Hurayrah, and I informed him of her statement. He said: "‘A’ishah, then, is more knowledgeable about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)."
