Musnad of the truthful one, Aisha bint al-Siddiq (RA)

Hadith 1153:689

Hassan narrated to us, he said: Zuhair narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said: I asked Al-Aswad ibn Yazid about what Aisha narrated to him regarding the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She said: "He used to sleep during the first part of the night and keep the last part of it alive (with worship). Then, if he had a need for his wife, he would fulfill his need, then sleep before touching water. Then, when it was time for the first call (to prayer), she said: He would spring up — and by Allah, she did not say: he stood up — and he would pour water over himself — and by Allah, she did not say: he performed ghusl, and I know what she meant — and if he was not in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), he would perform wudu like a man’s wudu for prayer, then pray the two rak'ahs."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
