Mu'ammal narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Suwayd narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Ya'mar, from Aisha, who said: The wife of Uthman ibn Maz'un used to apply henna and perfume, then she abandoned it. She entered upon me, and I said to her: "Is he present or absent?" She said: "Present like one who is absent." I said to her: "What is the matter with you?" She said: "Uthman does not desire the world, nor does he desire women." Aisha said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered upon me, and I informed him of that. He met Uthman and said: "O Uthman, do you believe in what we believe in?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Then you have an example in us."
