Musnad Ahmad 1153:822

Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, he said: Simak ibn Harb narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from 'Aishah, that she purchased Barirah from some people of the Ansar, and they stipulated the right of inheritance (al-wala'). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The right of inheritance belongs to the one who bestowed the favor." He said: And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave her the choice (to remain married or not), and her husband was a slave. She gifted some meat to 'Aishah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If only you had prepared some of this meat for us?" 'Aishah said: It was given as charity to Barirah. He said: "It is charity for her, and it is a gift for us."
