Musnad of the truthful one, Aisha bint al-Siddiq (RA)

Hadith 1153:839

Ibrahim ibn Ishaq al-Talaqani narrated to us, he said: Ibn al-Mubarak and Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Abdullah informed us, from Anbasah ibn Sa'id, from Habib ibn Abi Amrah, from Mujahid, he said: Ibn Abbas said: "Do you know the breadth of Hell?" I said: "No." He said: "Yes, by Allah, you do not know. Verily, between the earlobe of one of them and his shoulder is a journey of seventy autumns, in which flow valleys of pus and blood." I said: "Rivers?" He said: "No, rather valleys." Then he said: "Do you know the breadth of Hell?" I said: "No." He said: "Yes, by Allah, we do not know. Aisha narrated to me that she asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about His saying: {And the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand} [Az-Zumar: 67]. So where are the people on that day, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "They are upon the bridge of Hell."

حدثنا إبراهيم بن إسحاق الطالقاني، قال: حدثنا ابن المبارك، وعلي بن إسحاق، قال: أخبرنا عبد الله، عن عنبسة بن سعيد، عن حبيب بن أبي عمرة، عن مجاهد، قال: قال ابن عباس: أتدري ما سعة جهنم؟ قلت: لا، قال: أجل، والله ما تدري، إن بين شحمة أذن أحدهم وبين عاتقه مسيرة سبعين خريفا، تجري فيها أودية القيح والدم، قلت: أنهارا؟ قال: لا، بل أودية، ثم قال: أتدرون ما سعة جهنم؟ قلت: لا، قال: أجل، والله ما ندري، حدثتني عائشة أنها سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن قوله: {والأرض جميعا قبضته يوم القيامة والسماوات مطويات بيمينه} [الزمر: 67] فأين الناس يومئذ يا رسول الله؟ قال: " هم على جسر جهنم "
