Musnad Ahmad 1153:853

Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahman informed us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, he said: My father informed me that Aisha said to him: "O son of my sister, I have seen something wondrous regarding the honoring of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) for his uncle. That is because the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would be seized by a pain in the flank, and it would be very severe upon him. We would say: 'The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has been seized by the kidney vein,' for we did not know to call it the flank. Then, one day, it seized the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and became very severe upon him, until he fainted, and we feared for him, and the people became alarmed for him. We thought he had pleurisy, so we administered a medicine to him (by mouth). Then, the distress was lifted from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and he regained consciousness. He recognized that he had been given medicine, and he felt the effect of the medicine. He said: 'You thought that Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, had empowered it (the illness) over me? Allah would not empower it over me. By the One in whose hand is my soul, there shall not remain anyone in the house except that they are given this medicine, except for my uncle.' So I saw them giving them the medicine, man by man." Aisha said: "And who was in the house that day, so that their virtue might be remembered? So all the men were given the medicine. Then the medicine reached the wives of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so they were given the medicine, woman by woman, until the medicine reached a woman among us." Ibn Abi al-Zinad said: "I do not know her, except that it was Maymunah." He said: "And some people said: Umm Salamah." She said: "I am, by Allah, fasting." We said: "How evil is what you have thought, that we would leave you, when the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has sworn an oath!" So we gave her the medicine, by Allah, O son of my sister, even though she was fasting.
