'Affan narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, he said: Sulayman al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr, from 'A'ishah, she said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, 'Abd Allah ibn Jud'an used to host the guest, release the captive, maintain ties of kinship, and treat neighbors well during the Pre-Islamic period (Jahiliyyah)." So I praised him, but will that benefit him? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, for he never once said: 'O Allah, forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgment.'" 'Affan said once: "So she praised him."
