Musnad of the truthful one, Aisha bint al-Siddiq (RA)

Hadith 1153:950

'Abd al-Wahhab narrated to us, he said: Hisham al-Dastawa'i informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, that 'A'ishah narrated to him that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would not fast in any month of the year more than he fasted in Sha'ban; for he used to fast all of Sha'ban. And he used to say: "Take upon yourselves of the deeds what you can endure, for Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, does not grow weary until you grow weary." For the most beloved of prayer to him was that which one persists in, even if it be little. And when he performed a prayer, he would persist in it.

حدثنا عبد الوهاب، قال: أخبرنا هشام الدستوائي، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن، أن عائشة، حدثته، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، لم يكن يصوم من شهر من السنة أكثر من صيامه من شعبان، فإنه كان يصوم شعبان كله، وكان يقول: " خذوا من العمل ما تطيقون، فإن الله عز وجل لا يمل، حتى تملوا "، فإنه كان أحب الصلاة إليه ما داوم عليها، وإن قل، وكان إذا صلى صلاة يداوم عليها
