'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: 'Ata' al-Khurasani informed us that 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr entered upon 'Aishah on the day of 'Arafah, while she was fasting and water was being sprinkled upon her. 'Abd al-Rahman said to her: "Break your fast." She said: "Should I break my fast when I have heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'Indeed, the fasting of the day of 'Arafah expiates the year that precedes it'?"
