'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Hisham ibn 'Urwah informed us, from 'Urwah, from 'Aishah, that Abu Bakr said to her: "On which day did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, die?" She said: "On Monday." He said: "What Allah wills. I hope for what is between me and the night." He said: "In what did you shroud him?" She said: "In three white Sahuli Yemeni garments; there was no shirt in them, nor a turban." Abu Bakr said: "Look at this garment of mine; it has a stain of saffron or red clay on it, so wash it and add two other garments with it." 'Aishah said: "O father, it is worn out." He said: "The living is more deserving of the new, and it is only for the pus." 'Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr had given them a Hibarah cloak, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was wrapped in it, then they took him out of it, and he was shrouded in three white garments. He said: So 'Abdullah took the cloak and said: "I will shroud myself in something that touched the skin of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." Then he said after that: "By Allah, I will not shroud myself in something that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, prevented His Prophet from being shrouded in." He died on the night of Tuesday and was buried at night. And 'Aishah died, and 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr buried her at night.
