Musnad Ahmad 2:179

Mu'ammal narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Salamah, from 'Imran al-Sulami, who said: I asked Ibn 'Abbas about *nabidh* (fermented drink), and he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade *nabidh* [made in] earthen jars (*al-jarr*) and gourds (*al-dubba'*). Then I met Ibn 'Umar and asked him, and he informed me—as I think—on the authority of 'Umar: That the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade *nabidh* [made in] earthen jars and gourds—Sufyan was in doubt. He said: Then I met Ibn al-Zubayr and asked him, and he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade *nabidh* [made in] earthen jars and gourds.
