Musnad Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA)

مسند عمر بن الخطاب (1) رضي الله عنه

Hadith 2:224

Yazid narrated to us, Asbagh informed us, from Abu al-Ala’ al-Shami, who said: Abu Umamah wore a new garment. When it reached his collarbone, he said: "Praise be to Allah who clothed me with that by which I cover my nakedness and adorn myself in my life." Then he said: I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever acquires a new garment and wears it, and says when it reaches his collarbone: 'Praise be to Allah who clothed me with that by which I cover my nakedness and adorn myself in my life,' then proceeds to the garment that has become worn out—or he said: 'discarded'—and gives it away in charity, he shall be under the protection of Allah, in the neighborhood of Allah, and in the care of Allah, alive and dead, alive and dead, alive and dead."

حدثنا يزيد، أخبرنا أصبغ، عن أبي العلاء الشامي، قال: لبس أبو أمامة ثوبا جديدا، فلما بلغ ترقوته، قال: الحمد لله الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي، وأتجمل به في حياتي، ثم قال: سمعت عمر بن الخطاب يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من استجد ثوبا فلبسه، فقال حين يبلغ ترقوته: الحمد لله الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي، وأتجمل به في حياتي، ثم عمد إلى الثوب الذي أخلق - أو قال: ألقى - فتصدق به، كان في ذمة الله، وفي جوار الله، وفي كنف الله حيا وميتا، حيا وميتا، حيا وميتا " .
