'Attab—meaning Ibn Ziyad—narrated to us, 'Abdullah—meaning Ibn al-Mubarak—narrated to us, Yunus informed us, from al-Zuhri, from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid and 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Utbah, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd [al-Qari], from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab—'Abdullah said: My father attributed it to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—he said: "Whoever misses something of his *wird*—or he said: of his portion—of the night, and recites it between the dawn prayer and the noon prayer, it is as if he had recited it during his night."
