Musnad Ahmad 2:66

Abu Sa’id narrated to us, ‘Abdullah ibn Lahi’ah narrated to us, ‘Amr ibn Shu’ayb narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from ‘Umar, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "A father shall not be executed in retaliation for his child." And the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The one who inherits the wealth is the one who inherits the wala’ (patronage)."
