Musnad Ahmad 2:87

Sufyan narrated to us, from Yahya, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi, from Alqama ibn Waqqas, who said: I heard Umar saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying: "Actions are only by intention, and for every person is what he intended. So whoever’s migration was to Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, then his migration is to what he migrated to. And whoever’s migration was for a worldly life he attains, or a woman he marries, then his migration is to what he migrated to."
