Musnad Ahmad 3:13

Isma'il narrated to us, Yunus bin 'Ubayd narrated to us, from Abu Ma'shar, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, who said: I was with Ibn Mas'ud, and he was with 'Uthman. 'Uthman said to him: "What remains for you regarding women?" He said: When he mentioned women, Ibn Mas'ud said: "Draw near, O 'Alqamah." He said: And I was a young man. 'Uthman said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out to some youths of the Emigrants and said: "Whoever among you possesses the means, let him marry, for it is more lowering to the gaze and more protective of the private parts. And whoever cannot, then fasting is a shield for him."
