Musnad Ahmad 3:136

'Abdullah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami narrated to me, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Nafi', Nabih ibn Wahb narrated to me, he said: 'Umar ibn 'Ubaydullah ibn Ma'mar sent me, and he was seeking the hand of the daughter of Shaybah ibn 'Uthman for his son. So he sent me to Aban ibn 'Uthman while he was in charge of the Hajj season. He said: "Do I not see him as a Bedouin? Indeed, the one in the state of Ihram does not marry, nor does he give in marriage. 'Uthman informed me of that from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." And Nabih narrated to me, from his father, the like of it.
