Say, "Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allah will not succeed."
Tafsir
Verse range: 10:69
Say: This is a shift in address, directed toward the master of those addressed, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in order to clarify the evil of their outcome and the gravity of their consequence. In this, there is a warning for them against persisting in what they are upon, and for others against falling into the like thereof.
Indeed, those who invent lies about Allah: [This applies] in every matter, and the fabrication of attributing a child or a partner to Him—Exalted is He—is included primarily. This is more appropriate than limiting the scope to what is being discussed here. Consequently, the relative pronoun [“those who”] is intended to encompass those addressed and others besides them; meaning, whosoever possesses this trait—whoever they may be—shall not succeed.
They shall not succeed: They shall neither be saved from that which is disliked, nor shall they attain any desired goal at all. This includes the failure to be saved from the Fire and the failure to attain Paradise. Limiting the statement to this [lack of success], in a context of strong deterrence against fabricating lies against Him—Glory be to Him—is more appropriate than [listing] general consequences in this context.
