Tafsir of Hud 11:76

(O Abraham) — assuming an implied "saying" to connect it with what preceded, meaning: "The angels said," or "We said: O Abraham."

(Turn away from this)—this argumentation.

(Indeed, the command of your Lord has come)—meaning His Almighty decree, which necessitates their punishment. It is sometimes interpreted as "the punishment itself," and the meaning of "has come" is taken to be "impending," so that it does not conflict with His statement, Exalted be He: (And indeed, there will come to them a punishment that cannot be averted).

(That is, neither by argumentation, nor by supplication, nor by anything else)—since the realization of that, at that moment, was imminent, and then it befell them. It is said: There is no need to consider the sense of "impending" [to avoid repetition], for the repetition is dispelled by the fact that the former is a preamble to mentioning that it cannot be averted.

Amr ibn Harm read: (And indeed, there came to them), using the past tense form, with (punishment) as the agent [of the verb]. The past tense was used to express the certainty of its occurrence.
