Verse range: 12:34
"So His Lord responded to him" (meaning: He answered his supplication in the most eloquent manner, which was contained in his saying: "And if You do not avert from me their plan..." and so on. This is effectively the same as saying: "Avert them from me," and is even stronger in its solicitation of the aversion, as you have known. In attributing the response to the Lord, while annexed to his pronoun—peace be upon him—is that which is not hidden of the manifestation of kindness. The placement of this was made even more excellent by his commencing his speech—peace be upon him—by calling upon the Exalted in the title of Lordship.
"So He averted from him their plan" in accordance with his supplication, by establishing him upon immunity and chastity, and by standing between him and the act of disobedience.
"Indeed, He is the Hearing" of the supplication of those who beseech Him,
"the Knowing" of their conditions, what their intentions contain, and what is best for them; none other than He, the Glorified, is such.
