Tafsir of Al-Hijr 15:35

"And indeed, upon you is the curse." This is banishment by way of wrath. From Allah, the Exalted, this is a punishment in the Hereafter, and in this world, it is a severance from the acceptance of His divine grace and His glorious guidance. From a human, it is a supplication for such. The manifest meaning is that it refers to the curse of Allah, the Exalted, due to His saying, "And indeed, upon you is My curse."

"Until the Day of Recompense."

This contains an indication that his punishment is delayed until that time, and that the curse, despite its extreme hideousness, is not the [ultimate] recompense for his deed; rather, that [the ultimate recompense] is realized on that day, which carries within it a terror that is manifest.

Setting this as the terminus of the curse has been explained in several ways:

It is said: It is not because it ceases at that point, but because at that time he will be tormented by such varieties of agony that he will forget the curse, making it appear as if it has vanished.

It is said: It is only delimited by this because it is the furthest limit people typically set in their speech, thus it is analogous to His saying, "Abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure," according to one interpretation.

Some have said: The intention by the "curse" is the cursing of him by all created beings, along with the curse of Allah, the Exalted, upon him. This [the cursing by created beings] ceases when the Trumpet is blown and the Day of Recompense arrives, unlike the curse of Allah, the Exalted, upon him and His banishment of him, for that is continuous forever.
