(Those) is a reference to the second group, and the sentence is in contrast to: “And for them in the Hereafter there is no share.” The use of the demonstrative pronoun serves to indicate that their characterization by what preceded it is the cause for the mentioned ruling; thus, the conjunction was omitted here because it acts like a consequence of what came before it. It has been said: the meaning of remoteness within it signifies the highness of their status and the distance of their rank in virtue. It is also permitted that the reference be to both of the aforementioned groups.

The tanwin in His saying, “For them a share (nasibun) from what they have earned,”—according to the first interpretation—is for glorification (tafkhim), and according to the second, it is for classification (tanwi’); meaning, for each of them is a share from the genus of what they earned, or because of it, or from what they supplicated for, we grant them thereof what we have decreed. Min (from) is for partitive purposes (tab’id), or for initiation (ibtida’), and its being for causation is based on the interpretation of it being for the sake of something, by way of explaining the reason.

In the verse, according to the third probability, the apparent noun is used in place of the pronoun—contrary to the wording of the preceding [phrase]—because what is understood from "Our Lord, give us" is supplication, not earning, although it is called "earning" because it is among the actions. It has been recited as mimma iktasabu (from what they acquired).

(And Allah is swift in reckoning): He will reckon the servants, despite their multitude, in the measure of half a day of the days of this world. It has been narrated: in the measure of the milking of a she-camel; and it has been narrated: in the measure of a blink of an eye, or [that] He is about to establish the Hour and reckon the people, so hasten toward acts of obedience and the acquisition of good deeds. The sentence is a concluding confirmation (tadhyil) for His saying, [the verse preceding it].
