Al-Baqarah: (209) "But if you slip..."

(But if you slip), meaning: if you deviate from entering (into peace) and turn away; its root meaning is slipping/falling, and it is used here metaphorically to mean what has been mentioned.

(After the clear proofs have come to you), meaning: the manifest arguments that it [Islam] is the truth, or the verses of the Book that clearly state this and necessitate entering it.

(Then know that Allah is Exalted in Might), meaning: Dominant over His command, and nothing can disable Him from taking retribution upon you.

(All-Wise), meaning: He does not neglect what wisdom requires regarding the punishment of the criminals.
