{And whoever comes to Him as a believer} in Him—Mighty and Majestic is He—and in what he brought from His presence, which includes the miracles we have witnessed, {having performed righteous deeds} of various acts, {then those}—this is a reference to "whoever," and the use of the plural takes into account its meaning, just as the singular usage that preceded it took into account its wording. The distance indicated by the demonstrative pronoun {those} (ula'ika) serves to signify the loftiness of their rank and the remoteness of their status. That is: those believers who performed righteous deeds, {for them}—by virtue of their faith and that performance—{are the highest degrees}—meaning, elevated stations.
