Tafsir of Al-Anbiya' 21:66

He (peace be upon him) said, rebuking them: "Do you then worship," meaning: Do you know that, yet you worship instead of Allah—meaning, bypassing the worship of the Exalted—that which does not bring you any benefit, and it is said: nor does it harm you with anything.

For knowledge of its state, which is contradictory to divinity, is something that necessitates avoiding its worship absolutely.
