Tafsir of Al-Furqan 25:29

(This is an explanation for his aforementioned wish, a clarification of his excuse, and it is prefixed with the oath-confirming lam to emphasize his error and manifest his remorse and regret. That is: By Allah, such-and-such person has indeed misled me from the remembrance of Allah Almighty, or from the admonition of the Messenger—peace and blessings be upon him—or from the word of testimony, or from the Quran.)

(That is, it reached me, I knew it, or I gained access to it. Thus, there is no indication in the verse that the one concerning whom it was revealed had faith and then apostatized.)

(A superlative form indicating extreme abandonment, which is the withholding of aid and support at the time of need from one from whom it is expected. This sentence is an interpolation confirming the content of what preceded it, either from the perspective of Allah Almighty or as a continuation of the wrongdoer’s speech. This is either because he called his companion a "shaitan" [devil] after describing him with misguidance, which is the basest of devilish qualities, or because he meant by "the shaitan" Iblis, for it was he who drove him to sit with those who lead astray and to oppose the guiding Messenger—peace and blessings be upon him—through his whispering and incitement. The description of him as khadhulan [abandoning] suggests that he used to make promises to him in this world and entice him with the idea that he would benefit him in the Hereafter, which is more consistent with the state of Iblis—may he be cursed.)
