This means: do not diminish any of their rights, whatever that right may be. The attribution of "things" (ashya') is generic, and it is permissible for it to be for the purpose of generalization, with the intended meaning being the correspondence of a plural to a plural; thus, the meaning becomes: do not deprive anyone of anything. It is also permissible that the plural is used to indicate the various types, for they used to deprive others of everything, whether significant or trivial. This is a generalization following the specification of some, as the latter was mentioned because of their total absorption in it.

It has been said: the meaning of "their things" refers to dirhams and dinars, and depriving them of these was done by clipping their edges; were it not for that, the plural would not have been used. The verb "to deprive" (bakhs) is transitive to two objects; thus, the two accusative nouns are its two objects. It is also said that it is transitive to one, and the second is a substitution of inclusion (badal ishtimal).

This refers to killing, raiding, highway robbery, and the like. "Abuse" ('athu) is corruption, or its most intense form. "Spreading corruption" (mufsidin) is a corroborative circumstantial qualifier (hal mu'akkida). It is also permitted that the intended meaning is "spreading corruption in your hereafter," in which case it would be an initiating circumstantial qualifier (hal mu'assisah).
