Ash-Shu'ara: (39) And it was said to the people, "Will you..."

"And it was said to the people" — intending to chide them for their slowness in gathering and to urge them to hasten toward it — "Will you assemble?" at that appointed time? The interrogation is a metaphor for urging and hastening, as in the saying of Ta'abbata Sharran: "Will you send Dinar for our need, or 'Abd Rabb, the brother of 'Awn ibn Mikhraq?" For he means: "Send one of the two to us quickly and do not delay him."
