Tafsir of Ash-Shu`ara' 26:58

"And treasures": That is, wealth which they had collected and stored underground. They are specifically mentioned because visible wealth is an essential matter for them, being a necessity of their livelihood; thus, their expulsion from it is known by necessity. It has been said: because their visible wealth was obliterated by destruction. This is countered by the fact that the expulsion occurred before the obliteration, since gardens are among the visible wealth, and the report regarding them states that they were expelled from them under the description of their being gardens, the fundamental principle of which is literal meaning. Even if one were to concede that it happened afterward, it remains that what was destroyed was what Pharaoh and his people used to build and what they used to construct—which is interpreted as palaces, buildings, and gardens. Thus, that which is other than this from their visible wealth remains un-subjected to destruction, yet they were expelled from that as well; therefore, one needs a justification for why it was not mentioned other than what has been stated.

It has also been said: The intent by "treasures" is their hidden and visible wealth, and it was termed as such because nothing of it was spent in the obedience of Allah Almighty. This is narrated from Mujahid. The first interpretation is more congruent with the language. Most of the ignorant people of Egypt claim that these treasures are in the Muqattam mountains of Egypt and that they exist until now; they have spent much wealth to extract them, [paying] the devils of the Maghrebis and others, yet they gained nothing but dirt or limestone. Ibn Jubayr said: The intent by "springs" is springs of gold, which is contrary to what is immediately understood; similar to this is what al-Dahhak said, that the intent by "treasures" is rivers.

"And an honorable station": They are beautiful dwellings, as al-Naqqash said. It is narrated from Ibn Lahi'ah that they were in the Fayyum region of Egypt. It is said: the seats of princes, nobles, and rulers, which are surrounded by followers. It is said: couches within curtains. Al-Mawardi narrated that it refers to horse stables. From Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, and al-Dahhak, it is narrated that they are the pulpits for orators. Qatadah and al-A’raj recited it as muqum (with a damma on the mim), derived from aqama (to reside/stay).
