Surah An-Naml 27:6

ﱭ ﱮ ﱯ ﱰ ﱱ ﱲ ﱳ

And indeed, [O Muhammad], you receive the Qur'an from one Wise and Knowing.

{And indeed, you receive the Qur’an...}

This is a resumed statement, brought forth after clarifying some of the affairs of the Noble Qur’an, as a preamble to the stories that follow it. It is introduced with two particles of emphasis (the waw of oath and the lam of confirmation) to highlight the utmost importance of its content.

The verb is put into the passive voice, and the agent—who is Gabriel, peace be upon him—is omitted, as he is already indicated in His saying, “The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down.” The lightened form of the verb (laqā) takes one object, while the doubled form (luqqīta) takes two; here, they are the deputy agent (the subject) and the Qur’an. The intended meaning is: "Indeed, you are given the Qur’an, and you receive it directly from a Wise, All-Knowing One."

This signifies: what a Wise One, and what an All-Knowing One! The glorification of these two names serves to glorify the status of the Qur’an and affirms the exalted rank of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his knowledge and his comprehension of what it contains of major and subtle matters.

Wisdom, as Al-Raghib said, is from Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—the knowledge of things and their creation in the most perfect manner of precision. From man, it is the knowledge of existing things and the performance of good deeds. He combined wisdom with knowledge—even though knowledge is linguistically included within the meaning of wisdom—due to its generality; for knowledge relates to things that do not exist and can exist without action. Thus, wisdom denotes the precision and perfection of action. This also serves to signal that among the sciences in the Qur’an are those that are wisdom, such as the religious laws, and those that are not, such as the stories and reports of the Unseen.
