Tafsir
Verse range: 29:50
"And they said, 'Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord?'"
(And they said—meaning the disbelievers of Quraysh, prompted by some of the People of the Scripture. It is also said that the pronoun refers to the People of the Scripture—"Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord?"—such as the she-camel of Salih and the staff of Musa. Most of the people of Kufa recited "a sign" in the singular.)
"Say, 'The signs are only with Allah'"—He sends them down as He wills, without anyone having any influence in that whatsoever—"and I am only a clear warner."
(It is not my concern except to warn by means of the signs I have been given, not to bring what you have proposed. Thus, the limitation is a limitation of refutation.)
