3:150 **(Rather, Allah is your Protector...)** This is an *idrab* (disjunctive particle), a shift from the previous discourse without invalidating it. The meaning is: The disbelievers are not your allies such that they should be obeyed in anything, nor will they grant you victory; rather, Allah is your Helper, none other than He. "Allah" is the subject (*mubtada'*) and "your Protector" is the predicate (*khabar*).

It has been recited with the accusative case (nasb) for the Majestic Name [Allah], implying it is the object of a deleted verb. The meaning in that case is: Do not obey them, but rather obey Allah, your Protector; and He is the best of helpers. This is because He is the Powerful One who is never overcome, and He is the Helper in reality. Therefore, it is appropriate that He be singled out for obedience and seeking assistance. This sentence is conjoined to what precedes it.

Regarding the irregular (shadhdhah) recitation, it is permissible to consider it as an isti'naf (a new commencement of speech) or as a circumstantial (haliyah) clause.
