Surah Al Imran 3:57

ﲁ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ ﲅ ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ ﲌ

But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards, and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.

{And as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them their rewards in full}

This is an exposition of the state of the second group. It begins with the mention of "those who disbelieved" because the first thing that comes to mind upon mentioning the preceding divine judgment is a threat, so it was appropriate to begin with them. Furthermore, they are closer in mention due to the Almighty’s saying: "above those who disbelieved." Moreover, the discourse is directed at the Jews who disbelieved in ‘Isa (peace be upon him) and plotted to kill him.

"He will give them their rewards in full," meaning He will provide them in abundance and complete the recompense for their righteous deeds, granting them the reward for that fully and without deficiency. It has been claimed that the fulfillment of rewards refers to the distribution of stations in Paradise, but the apparent meaning is more general than that. The fulfillment is made conditional upon belief and righteous deeds, while punishment is made conditional solely upon disbelief. This serves to draw attention to the degree of perfection in belief, to invite towards it, and to signal the extreme ugliness of disbelief.

Hafs and Ruways (on the authority of Ya‘qub) recited "yufihiim" (He will give them in full) with the ya denoting the third person (He). Ruways added a damma to the ha. The others read it with the nun (We will give them in full), following the practice of majesty and exaltation. Perhaps the reason for the shift to the third person in the first reading is to indicate that the fulfillment of the reward is something that does not require direct exertion, for it is one of the effects of His vast mercy, unlike punishment.

The relative pronouns in both verses are subjects whose predicates are what follows the "fa." It is permissible for them to be in the accusative case, governed by an elided verb explained by what is mentioned, with the position of the elided element being after the conjunctive clause, as Abu al-Baqa’ stated. It is not permitted to estimate it before the relative pronoun, because the particle "amma" cannot be immediately followed by a verb.

{And Allah does not love the wrongdoers}

Meaning: He does not desire to honor them, nor does He show them mercy, nor does He praise them. Alternatively, the intent is that He detests them, which is the common understanding of such an expression. The sentence is an concluding observation for what preceded, affirming its content.
