Tafsir
Verse range: 3:70
This means: Why do you disbelieve in the verses of the Quran that are recited to you, while you know what points to their authenticity and the necessity of acknowledging them from the Torah and the Gospel?
It is also said: The meaning of "Why do you disbelieve" is in the verses contained in your own scriptures that point to the prophethood of the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), "while you witness" the proofs that indicate this.
Or it means: "Why do you disbelieve" in what is in your scriptures—that "Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam"—while you bear witness to that?
Or: "Why do you disbelieve" in the proofs indicating his prophethood (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), "while you witness" that the manifestation of a miracle indicates the truthfulness of the one claiming the message? Or, [it implies] that you witness the truth of the religion of Islam when you are in private?
Or: "Why do you disbelieve in the verses of Allah" entirely, while you know their validity without any doubt, in the status of observational knowledge?
