Tafsir
Verse range: 31:25
Meaning: Allah, may He be exalted, created them. It is permissible that the implied meaning is, "Allah created them," but the first [interpretation] is more appropriate, as has been detailed in its proper place. Their saying this is due to the extreme clarity of the matter, such that they were compelled to acknowledge it.
[This is a command to praise Him] for compelling them and forcing them to acknowledge that which necessitates the invalidity of what they are upon—the association of others with Him, may His majesty be exalted, in worship, which none but the true Creator and Benefactor deserves. It is also permissible that the object of praise is the establishment of the evidences of monotheism in such a way that even the arrogant cannot deny them.
That is, they do not know that this [acknowledgment] binds them [to the logical consequence of monotheism]. It has been said: There is a fine depth in this, as if He—glory be to Him—said: Indeed, their ignorance has reached the point where they do not know what the position of "Praise be to Allah" is in this context. The complete discussion regarding the parallel verse in [Surah] Al-Ankabut has already passed, so remember it.
