Fatir: (17) And that is not...

(And that) — that is, what has been mentioned regarding their removal and the bringing forth of a new creation — (is not upon Allah) (a burden), meaning it is not difficult. For His command, Exalted is He, when He intends a thing, is only to say to it, "Be," and it is.

Although among the people there is the convention of prioritizing the present over the absent, and the learned over others, and the address here follows that style; and although we have stated that the verse implies that what the Glorified One brings forth from the world is more novel (more abda'), there arises a difficulty—outwardly—regarding the saying of the Proof of Islam (Al-Ghazali): "There is nothing in possibility more novel than what has been."

It has been answered that this [objection] is based on the assumption that its occurrence is included within the scope of what has been, and that it is [like] some parts of this world in relation to others. Or, it is answered that the "novelty" (abda'iyyah) implied [by the verse] carries one meaning, while the "novelty" in the words of the Proof of Islam carries another. So contemplate this.
