Tafsir
Verse range: 37:106
That is: the test and the examination, which is clear and manifest, in which the sincere is distinguished from the other; or the evident affliction, which is the hardship whose difficulty is apparent. Nothing has occurred that is more difficult than it, and its difficulty is scarcely hidden from anyone. To Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, belongs the right to test whom He wills with what He wills; He—Glorified be He—is the Wise, the Doer of what He intends. Perhaps this sentence is intended to clarify that they were among the doers of good (al-muhsinin), and it is said that it is to explain the wisdom behind what they attained. In either case, it is an explanatory incipience (ist'naf bayani), so ponder it.
